Crowned Best Restaurant in the World in 2006, 2007, 2008…El Bulli By lacredo84

April 16th, 2009

The St. Pellegrino World’s 50 Best Restaurants has voted El Bulli of Spain as the most prominent restaurant in the world in 2006, 2007, and 2008 with the Fat Duck of United Kingdom placing second in the consecutive years.

A three Michelin starred restaurant inspired by the ingenious chef Ferran Adria, is open to 8,000 reserved guests per season with over 1 million in requests. The average cost of a meal is about $325 U.S. dollars. Utilizing science and chemical processes to transform the ingredients used in many food concepts, the molecular gastronomized plates is sure to catch the attention of the restaurant’s curious diners.

Even Joel Robuchon, once critiqued as the best chef in the world before his retirement in Paris, considers Adria to be the best chef in the world presently. His simple ideology of food, service, and ambience being the focus of a restaurant has brought tremendous success to his name and to those that he impacted in the culinary world.

The 2009 list of World’s Best Restaurant will be released in London on April 20. We shall see if El Bulli wins a 4th consecutive title!

Heidi Montag eats Tacos to support World Hunger Relief Week By dailyyummy

October 17th, 2007

Heidi Montag was at a Los Angeles launch party of World Hunger Relief Week, eating Taco Bell Crispy Tacos.

Bizjournal.com reports:
Yum Brands Inc. is launching a worldwide fund-raiser next week to benefit the United Nations’ World Food Programme, a humanitarian agency that feeds about 90 million people in 80 of the world’s poorest communities.

The effort, which Louisville, Ky.-based Yum (NYSE: YUM) is calling “World Hunger Relief Week,” will be held from Oct. 14 to Oct. 20.

Yum’s 35,000 restaurants, which operate under the KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, Long John Silver’s and A&W All-American Food brands, all will participate in some way, according to a news release. Restaurant managers and employees are being instructed to dedicate one day next week to holding fund-raising drives or food collections.

Yum’s chairman and CEO, David Novak, will volunteer at a food bank in Louisville, the release said. The Yum Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Yum Brands, also will donate to the cause by covering the World Food Programme’s administrative fees so that all funds collected from Yum’s customers and employees will go directly toward purchasing food for the hungry.

Good for Yum and Heidi.
