It’s just cupcakes!
What is it about this simple food concept that generate lines that take longer than to ride a roller coaster?
On my recent visit to Sprinkles Cupcakes in Beverly Hills, I was quite astonished how such a small store was infatuated and fascinated by so many people. I waited about 30 minutes before actually entering the crowded store of no greater than 300 square footage of space. It was then when I set my eyes upon the finely crafted cupcakes of so many unique flavors from Red Velvet to Chai Latte. All lined perfectly, cupcake by cupcake, behind a crystal clear glass as if they were some fine diamond jewelry. The rush of gluttony began to unfold as one lively employee delightfully asked “Which one are you most interested in?” I said “All of them!”…only in my greedy head.
The store provides simplicity of another kind, just take a look at the creatively designed schedule for the cupcake availability during the business week. The price is mediocre, about $3 per cupcake and most of them are immensly sweet. They sell souveneirs for the millions of tourists/residents bound to tour through the busy streets of Rodeo Drive and even create the sensational cupcakes for dogs!
I can say Sprinkles adds another simple food concept to the city of Los Angeles that has gained renowned success through their word-of-mouth marketing and brilliant market segmentation. Enjoy it while it lasts!

Starbucks, desperate to regain it’s coolness, joined forces with the ever so trendy Pinkberry frozen yogurt to create the so call “New” Italian Yogurt Sensation.
Our Dailyyummy.com Taste Mobile were first in line and found them quite underwhelmed. First of all, the “Pinkberry” original flavor was basically just Pinkberry plain yogurt blended and put into Starbucks cup. Second of all, the cup is tinier than “Tall”, making this truly an unsatisfyingly short experience. Third, there were very little diversity of flavor: there were plain, plain with Mango syrup, 2 Citrus flavors and an interesting Berry flavor.
Overall, we did fall in love with the Berry flavor the most. It has a candy-like after taste and it does leave us wanting more. Although their lackluster attempt to savor their coolness seems hot at the moment, we predict that this trendy drink will phase off very quickly.

The New York Pizza of Cookies. Huge and thinly spread, Mrs. Field’s Decorated 12 Inch Cookie is a great gift idea. They can customize messaging on the giant cookie with anything you like. The frosting is delicious. So far, I tried the oatmeal raisin and chocolate chip. Liking the Oatmeal Raisin alot, but not so sure about the chocolate chip. It tasted a little bland. I guess I’m a cacao kinda guy. It’s really one of foods you look at and not necessarily want to eat alot of. A little piece and I’m set.

One of my fondest memories of visiting New York, is going to Chelsea Market’s Eleni’s.
Upon entering this brightly pink and white cookies and baked goods studio, you’ll not only be amazed at the beautifully crafted cookies and cupcakes, you’ll want to buy them and start eating them. Although these sweet treats are pricier than normal, you’ll value them as a work of art when you give them out as gifts or enjoy the beautiful colors and designs as you devour them slowly.
The shop makes all kinds of designs on cookies: animals, professions, birthday theme, holiday, graduation, you name it, they probably have it.

Ready for a chocolate orgasm? Vanilla Bake Shop’s Black and White Cupcake is one of the most superbly conceived cupcakes I have ever tasted. Dark Chocolate Cake,
Vanilla Bean and Milk Chocolate Frosting combination is a winning combination. Aside from this, try the delicious Southern Red Velvet and Chocolate Vanilla Bean. This is definitely a worth-while distraction from my attempted low carb diet.

Let’s talk business. Whoever said Chocky is the new Pocky is flat out a liar. Let’s break down, people. Pocky is the original and still the very best. Made by Glico, a Japanese company, Pocky boxes contain dainty lightly crispy little chocolate covered bread stick. Chocky is the imitation from China. First of all, Pocky’s milk chocolate has the grade A quality cacao you can feel and taste in your mouth. The shoddy chocolate on Chocky is watered down piece of shit that taste like nada. Do not be fooled by size either. This weekend, I saw that Chocky is trying to outdo the competition by putting out- Giant Chocky. They need to learn some lesson. What’s “bad” multiplied by 10, ten times as bad. Please people, support the real Pocky and stay away from the imitation.

When in Rome eat what the Romans eat, when in New York, eat Ray’s Pizzas. Surrender to the liberally garnished thin sliced pizzas. I recommend the meat lovers special- bacon, pepperoni, sausage and more bacon. Just a slice and I can feel my arteries shouting- “im clogged but gimme gimme more”. Ray’s is a classic joint that is simply a must when visiting New York. Greasy as hell, but really satisfying.
